About Mr. Strait
As you might suspect, I am a big reader. I love the fact that I have a job that encourages me to read as much as I can and to talk about the books I like with those around me. I also listen to music any chance I get. I have a particular fascination with soul music of the 1960’s, underground music from the 1970’s on, jazz, and pop music in general. So, if you want to hear a long monologue from me, ask whether I think David Bowie is better than Eric Clapton.
My wife Teresa is involved in education as well: she teaches English to seventh and eighth graders right here at SDS. We have two children, Sidney (a high schooler), and Jude (enrolled here at SDS in the middle school). We spend a lot of time together reading, playing games, hiking, and traveling.
My road to education was a bit indirect. I have a degree in English and History from Winthrop University, but for years I was an IT professional at a law firm in Greenville. I decided to pursue librarianship as a way to combine my love of technology, books, and education.
Please feel free to stop by the library any time we are open.
